The Silver Jubilee Chapter of Installed First Principals No 8818, which meets at the Masonic hall in Park Road, Ormskirk, was pleased to welcome the ‘Demonstration Team’ of the Provincial Grand Stewards’ Chapter of West Lancashire No 8516 to their recent convocation. The Provincial Grand Stewards’ Chapter was established in 1979, to provide an opportunity for PrGStwd’s of the Royal Arch to meet together and continue to cement friendships formed during their year in office. It has a dual role, in that it can promote the knowledge of Royal Arch Masonry by way of lectures and demonstrations, as well as carrying out duties for the Province.
On this visit, the demonstration team performed one of their pieces, ‘See who seeks admission.’ This basically entailed bringing the regular office bearers of the chapter into the room with a historical introduction for each, dressing them in their robes, then placing them in their positions within the chapter. The three principals, having being robed in the west, opened the chapter, then made their way east to receive the sceptres, following which a narration was given regarding the room and its settings. On completion the demonstration team assembled in the west and reported that they had concluded their presentation.
At this point, the principals of Silver Jubilee, Phil Stock, Roger Holt and Jim Grant, first, second and third principals respectively, welcomed all to their meeting, amongst whom were a number of officers from Supreme Grand Chapter, Sam Robinson, Arend Van Duyvenbode, Neil McSymonds and Malcolm Alexander.
Carrying with standard chapter business, the three principals for the coming year were elected, along with the other required positions. On completion, the companions encamped to the ground floor dining room to enjoy a festive board of the highest standing.
