The members and guests of Victory Lodge No 6238, thronged the Roman lodge room at Liverpool Masonic Hall, to witness the installation, or more correctly, the proclamation of Eric Palfreyman as WM of the lodge.
The installation ceremony got under way with the entrance into the lodge of Christopher Hamilton, as the representative of the Provincial Grand Master Tony Harrison, accompanied by Liverpool Group Chairman Mark Mathews and grand officers John Roberts and Roy Ashley.
Eric warmly welcomed Christopher on behalf of all present and having completed the salutations and ensured all the posts were occupied, the immediate pat master Mike Edwards, proclaimed Eric as master of the lodge.
The salutations to the Provincial grand officers were given to twin brothers, Gordon and Edward Lees, both of whom not so long ago, celebrated 60 years within the Craft. Gordon was WM in 1970 and Edward in 1971.
The presentation and explanation of the working tools of the third degree was given by Mike Edwards and the presentations of the working tools in the second and first degrees were given by junior warden Alan Maddocks.
Mark Matthews gave the address to the charity steward David Jones and afterwards presented him with a copy. The address to the wardens was presented by John Roberts and that to the brethren of Victory Lodge by Christopher Hamilton.
At the conclusion of the ceremony, Christopher rose, and on behalf of the PrGM, congratulated Eric on his remaining in the chair for another year before passing on the best wishes of the PrGM to Eric and indeed to all of the assembled brethren. Christopher complimented all those who had taken part in the ceremony and commented that this was Eric’s fourth time in this position. Eric was WM for the first time in 1991, then in 1999 and 2017 and now again in 2018.
Following the installation ceremony all retired to the banqueting suite for an excellent festive board.
