Charity begins at home

Prior to the installation ceremony for Blenheim Lodge No 7519, the WM Paul Donnelly had the pleasure of presenting a cheque to the Liverpool Group Chairman Mark Mathews. The money was raised from a social gathering held over the festive period, which in many ways was a ground-breaking event for the group.

Over a number of years, the brethren of Blenheim Lodge, with their family and friends, have held a number of friendly socials. In recent times they have met with Childwall Lodge No 5235 for a shared event and this year for the first time Downshire Lodge No 594 also took part.

The evening proved a huge success with over 100 people in attendance and after all costs had been covered there was a surplus of £170. A combined decision by the WM of each lodge, Tony Fennell of Childwall Lodge, Colin Harrop of Downshire Lodge and Paul of Blenheim, was that this would be presented to the Liverpool Group for use in their charity disbursement fund, which is used for helping to relieve hardships in the local community.

Although hosted by Blenheim Lodge this year, it will move between the lodges on a rotational basis and will hopefully become cemented into the calendar.
