A packed Roman Suite at Liverpool Masonic Hall saw the installation of Peter Ramejkis into the chair of Abercromby Lodge No 3699 for the first time. Firefighter Peter has been a member of the lodge for seven years and has served in all the progressive offices. When not engaged in Freemasonry, Peter is a proud member of the Army Reserve and is a runner and weight trainer.
The proceedings commenced with the entrance of the representative of the Provincial Grand Master Kevin Poynton, accompanied by several grand officers including Sam Robinson, Chairman of the Liverpool Group and John Roberts (hall chairman) with Dudley Yorke-Summerskill and Ian Fisher who are both Abercromby Lodge members, Roy Ashley and other Provincial officers in a most colourful and dignified procession.
IPM John Binns commenced the proceedings, assisted most capably by lodge DC David Byrne. Having affirmed his obligation to the ancient charges, Peter Ramejkis was duly installed in the chair of King Solomon. Explanations of the tools in each degree were given by John Binns (third), Adam Byrne (second) and Darren Doyle (first). The address to the WM was given by Ian Fisher, to the wardens by Dudley Yorke-Summerskill, and to the brethren by Kevin Poynton. John Roberts gave the address to the deacons, Gordon Farmer to the stewards and Norman Byrne to the inner guard.
At the conclusion, Kevin Poynton rose and congratulated Peter Ramejkis and passed to him also the congratulations and thanks of the Provincial Grand Master. He also congratulated all of the officers who had taken part in a most enjoyable ceremony. In response Peter presented Kevin with a cheque for £150 as a contribution to the Liverpool Masonic Hall from the members of Abercromby lodge. This was received with thanks and Kevin said that it is a wonderful contribution from such a small lodge.
The ceremony completed, Kevin Poynton and his entourage processed from the lodge after what had been a most enjoyable evening to a sumptuous festive board.
